Suzy Wants My Little Pony
Fathers do not exasperate your children.
Sometimes I think I run a fine line.
Just this morning, after being continually harassed by my son Ender, whilst I was taking a shower, I played the Suzy 'game'.
Its a game that I have played a few times before. Not often, mind you. But a few times.
So I get out of the shower and say to my son, Ender,
"Why hello there, little Suzy. Don't you look pretty?"
Ender does what any good boy would do. He attacks.
"Oh now, little girls shouldn't hit. Little girls should be nice and wear dresses and play with dolls."
Ender becomes a little frustrated because his attacks don't do much to me (after all, I am Luke Vader).
Well, I continue the game for probably far too long.
Ender has gone through a series of attempts to attack me, to asking me not to call him a little girl anymore. His mother has even suggested that he start calling me Cindy.
Ender doesn't bite. He's the boy and apparently his or anyone else's masculinity is too sacred to trounce upon.
So again, for Ender, "Please don't calle me a little girl anymore."
And me, "Okay. I won't call you a little girl anymore, Suzy."
Next wave of 'exchanges'.
Finally, we have ended up in my bedroom, where I am attempting to get ready for work, amidst the attacks from my son, Suzy.
"Suzy, would you like a doll or a dress for Christmas?"
Ender has played this game with me before, so he replies "None."
"Suzy, would you like something pink or something frilly for Christmas?"
Again, "None."
"Suzy, would you like a My Little Pony for Christmas?"
Ender, probably not realizing the difference between My Little Pony and a real Pony, promptly replies, "How about a brown one?"
So Suzy wants My Little Pony for Christmas.
