The Name Game
Its almost time for another baby, so the name game begins.
The current winners are:
Frederick Alexander Doe
'Ender'
Ender's Game
FAD as in fad.
Isabelle D'Anerys Doe
A Game of Thrones
IDD as in the ego, or superego.
Genesis Auralia Doe
'Auralia'
Auralia's Colors
GAD as in Gadzooks or an expression of wow!!
(note: Auralia's colors is in the process of being published, and was written by my bother-in-law Jeffery Overstreet and edited by my big sister Anne)
Here are the rules:
3 syllables then 4 syllables
One of the names has to be a distinctive character in a work of literature.
We’ve got sci-fi, fantasy, and a children’s story already… so another type of work would be good.
Preferably, the names would create an acronym that could be interpreted to mean something:
Biblical names are good, if well, they are good.
We'll submit the names to a select jury for final approval, and the winner gets a copy of Ender's game, a Game of Thrones, and Auralia's colors.
Oh, and yes, I am on the jury.
Happy naming!!

is it a boy or girl? That'd be real helpful to know. Cut possibilities in half.

Ruth Amethyst Doe (RAD)
Richard Antoine Doe (RAD) - call him 'lil Rickie

OK, maybe not Amethyst. I just found out it has Wicca connotations. But, it's just the birthstone for February. I mean, it's not my fault those weirdos have to bring all this other stuff into the picture.

First Names: Rand Al Thor Wheel of Time, if you wanted more fantasy.
Pevensie, the last name of the children from Lion witch & the Wardrobe
Or my favorite; Caspian, sort of three syllables.
Corleone... Godfather.

We don't know if its a boy or girl...
Ruth... not three syllables.
Rand al Thor... good until his series turned into crap.
Amethyst... kinda cool, but let's leave the whole Wicca thing out.
Corleone and Pevensie... those might already be in the mix. Smile.
Caspain is cool, but my wife has already nixed it. Tried out quite a few Narnian names, but those, too, received the axe.
Possible acronymns to shoot for:
BAD
SAD
BOD
SOD
MOD
KID
RAD
ODD

Tumnus... only two though. White Witch perhaps? Aslan's dang awesome but it might be bad naming a child after a being analogous to God.

If it's a boy, I vote for Rodrigo as the first name. You can call him Ricky.

Martin Odysseus Doe.
Oliver Dixon Doe.
Samuel Aragorn Doe.
There. Three perfectly nice first names, with eccentric literary references in the middle. Best of luck.

Oh. I forgot about the syllables. I don't do syllables.
Although if you substitute "Antigone" in the third option, that might still work.

Philipé Horatio Doe
Fauntleroy Albuquerque Doe
Atticus Maximilian Doe

Mesh:
I already got nixed on Odysseus (although I may still sneak it in there), and anything from LOTR is out... because of its recent rise in popularity. Antigone is still in the mix for us.
Gosey:
Sweet. Were you thinking of Philipe or Horatio as the literary reference (or both..) and from what works? (I know my guesses.)
The Max derivatives have already been nixed by my wife. (Maximilian,Maximus, etc). Hmmm... Albquerque has possibilities.

I really like the B.A.D. initials, but not so much the names I came up with under the constraints (literature or Bible, 3 and then 4 syllables).
Feminine:
First name: Brianna, Britany, Bianca, Breatrice, Bethany
Middle name: Alexandra, Andromeda, Andromeda, Aubrianna, Adriana, Amelia, Antigone, Adalya, Angonia, Acacia, Aeluria. Aithera,
Masculine:
First name: Belgarath, Boromir, Banazir, Butterbur, Balthazar, Barnardine, Barnardo, Benedick, Benedict, Benjamin, Barnabas,
Middle Name: Antonio, Antigonus, Abednego,

So where are the photos of SAND (you were supposed to call), and what was the name the initials make? I know it's Atreides from Dune, but what is the rest? And while I'm on the subject, I thought that the ego thing was spelled with just one "d"?
